WHAT'S HAPPENED TO CHELSEA'S DEFENCE? RUDIGER & DAVID LUIZ ENDURE HALLOWEEN HORROR SHOW

Image
The Blues have been conceding goals galore in recent weeks and shipped another three in Rome as they suffered a heavy Champions League defeat Chelsea's defence was again left in ruins in Rome on the night of Halloween as Stephan El Shaarawy provided the frights and Antonio Rudiger endured a horror show with a shocking mistake. The Blues were 1-0 down after just 39 seconds following an unstoppable El Shaarawy strike from outside the area - and things just went from bad to worse for the English champions from there. Chelsea's defence made individual and collective errors throughout the game. David Luiz made a howler on the half way line shortly before Rudiger's big mistake allowed El Shaarawy to score his and Roma's second on the night. The German defender completely misread the flight off the ball, allowing the Italian to dart in and score. That left Chelsea with an almost impossible task and Diego Perotti made it 3-0 with another good long range strike after...

Trump adviser George Papadopoulos lied about Russian links

Papadopoulos says he was told the Russians possessed "dirt" on Hillary Clinton      An election campaign adviser to Donald Trump has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about the timing of meetings with alleged go-betweens for Russia. George Papadopoulos admitted the talks happened while he worked for Mr Trump, not before, court papers show. He said he had been told the Russians possessed "dirt" on Hillary Clinton. Separately, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort pleaded not guilty to charges of money laundering unrelated to the 2016 election. The charges against Mr Papadopoulos are the first to be brought by Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating alleged links between Russia and the Trump campaign. How does the Papadopoulos case affect Trump? It has the potential to damage the US leader because it relates directly to his campaign, analysts say. Mr Papadopoulos - a Chicago-based international energy lawyer - was close enough to...

PIQUE'S CLUMSY RED SPOILS DEULOFEU'S BIG NIGHT

Image
The out-of-favour winger was brought back in after his bright cameo at Atletico, but was substituted at half-time following the defender's dismissal Another night of frustration for Gerard Deulofeu. Since being brought back to Barcelona in the summer, the Spain international has found life tough at Camp Nou and he has recently been left out in the cold by coach Ernesto Valverde. On Saturday, he was back with a point to prove and livened up Barca's attack at the Wanda Metropolitano in a bright cameo as he helped the Catalan club come from behind to claim a point against Atletico Madrid. That positive performance saw Deulofeu earn a rare start on Wednesday night for the visit of Olympiacos and the 23-year-old saw plenty of the ball in the early stages of the Champions League clash. To start with, the former Everton winger appeared all too eager to please Lionel Messi, directing almost all of his passes into the path of the Argentine attacker. However, he settled down ...

CHELSEA IN RUINS AS ROMA COLLAPSE SHOWS CONTE HAS BIG PROBLEMS

Image
The Blues have not won any of their last three games and they are looking like a shadow of the team that romped to the Premier League title in May Chelsea's problems were laid bare on Wednesday night as their 3-3 draw with Roma once again illustrated just how irreplaceable N’Golo Kante is for Antonio Conte. Pep Guardiola recently labelled Tottenham Hotspur the "Harry Kane team” but he could have described Chelsea as the "Kante team" as the Premier League champions have forgotten how to play without their Player of the Year from last season. David Luiz's performance in the middle of the park was impressive but he was forced off with injury in the second half and Chelsea collapsed from two goals up as Edin Dzeko struck twice, including a wonder-volley, to make it 3-2 to the visitors. Eden Hazard's second goal on the night was a get out of jail card as he made it 3-3 with a precise header but there are huge question marks about the fluidity and ba...
