Wembley to host seven matches at 2020 European Championship, "UEFA confirms".

Image
Wembley to host the Euro 2020 final London will host seven games during Euro 2020 after UEFA handed the four fixtures scheduled for Brussels to Wembley on Thursday. UEFA decided to reallocate the three group-stage games and one last-16 game originally given to the Belgian capital because of delays in the project to build a new 60,000-capacity Eurostadium on the site of Heysel. Cardiff's Principality Stadium and Stockholm's Friends Arena - the venues for last season's finals of the Champions League and Europa League, respectively - had hoped to pick up Brussels' games. However, UEFA opted for Wembley, which has already been chosen as the venue for the semi-finals and final. Glasgow's Hampden Park had been hoping to stage the tournament's opening game but that honour has gone to Rome's Stadio Olimpico. Staged across 12 countries, Euro 2020's unusual format was former UEFA president Michel Platini's brainchild - a one-off gesture to celebr...

Image
Dillian Whyte is willing to become the next opponent for Anthony Joshua Dillian Whyte says he will "100 per cent" accept a rematch with Anthony Joshua early next year if his British rival cannot agree a unification clash with Joseph Parker. Negotiations for Joshua to put his WBA 'super' and IBF titles on the line against Parker are in deadlock with the WBO champion's promoter accusing 'AJ' of "refusing to compromise". Whyte is also waiting to learn his next opponent for a scheduled fight date of February 3, but would be willing to resume hostilities with Joshua instead if he receives a suitable offer. Whyte defeated Joshua in the amateur ranks before a professional loss in 2015 "It's either Parker or me, really," Whyte exclusively told  Sky Sports. Asked if he would face Joshua next, he added: "Yeah, 100 per cent. Ever since the fight, I've always wanted that fight, but it's a business as well as prid...

Ashes: England hope quickly extinguished as Australia storm into 2-0 series lead

Australia celebrate taking the wicket of England's Jonny Bairstow on day five in Adelaide The hosts had appeared a little rattled for much of the penultimate day in this second Test, while England captain Joe Root was sustaining England's unlikely fightback with a determined half-century. But Steve Smith's men were right back on their game as the Adelaide Oval sunshine came out to play at last on the final afternoon, Josh Hazlewood wasting no time with the instant wickets of nightwatchman Chris Woakes and Root himself in successive overs and Mitchell Starc (five for 88) turning the screw. After that, despite the best efforts of Jonny Bairstow, the rest was just details as England were all out for 233 after being set 354 to level the series. The tourists had done enough over the preceding day-and-a-half to give their supporters hope, even vaguely realistic hope. But on the resumption, from 176 for four, they simply could not have got off to a worse start. The ...

WHAT'S HAPPENED TO CHELSEA'S DEFENCE? RUDIGER & DAVID LUIZ ENDURE HALLOWEEN HORROR SHOW

Image
The Blues have been conceding goals galore in recent weeks and shipped another three in Rome as they suffered a heavy Champions League defeat Chelsea's defence was again left in ruins in Rome on the night of Halloween as Stephan El Shaarawy provided the frights and Antonio Rudiger endured a horror show with a shocking mistake. The Blues were 1-0 down after just 39 seconds following an unstoppable El Shaarawy strike from outside the area - and things just went from bad to worse for the English champions from there. Chelsea's defence made individual and collective errors throughout the game. David Luiz made a howler on the half way line shortly before Rudiger's big mistake allowed El Shaarawy to score his and Roma's second on the night. The German defender completely misread the flight off the ball, allowing the Italian to dart in and score. That left Chelsea with an almost impossible task and Diego Perotti made it 3-0 with another good long range strike after...
